Official Statement from Tamil Thalaivas Management

In view of recent public comments made by the Head Coach alleging interference by Tamil Thalaivas management in sporting decisions, the franchise wishes to place the following facts on record.

From the outset, the Head Coach was given complete authority and freedom over all sporting matters — including team selection, training, and tactics — throughout the season. Before signing, he was fully briefed on the squad composition, including existing NYP and RYP retentions, as well as the club’s long-standing philosophy of developing young players. Every request made during the auction and the season was supported to ensure he had the team he wanted. At no stage did the management or analysts interfere in these matters. Any suggestion or remark to the contrary is entirely unfounded.

Tamil Thalaivas believes the position of the Head Coach to be one of absolute seniority, entrusted with the responsibility to inspire, motivate, and enhance the team’s performance and morale. However, while the team delivered several strong individual performances, the overall results fell short of expectations. Notably, several complaints were received from players during the season citing a lack of attention and feedback from the coaching staff in training and matches — matters that were duly brought to the coach’s attention and, as is standard practice, addressed internally and discreetly. In addition, it is very disappointing that even after continuous requests from multiple stakeholders, the coach missed 16 post-match press conferences during the season but willingly chose to attend and make unsubstantiated remarks in the final one — a regrettable conclusion to a season that required reflection and accountability.

Tamil Thalaivas acknowledges that this season did not meet the expectations of our passionate fans and supporters. The management sincerely apologizes to our fans, partners, and stakeholders for the disappointing outcome. The franchise has already begun a comprehensive review to strengthen ahead of the next season. We are determined to come back stronger and give our fans the pride and performances they deserve.
